Dr. Watson was born and raised in Dothan, Alabama. He received his B.S. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his MPH from Georgia State University. As a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, he conducted research on cancer education and the support program for low-income African American cancer survivors. As part of his Master’s capstone, he examined strategies to reduce tobacco use among minorities in Atlanta. He also served as a Mayo Clinic Summer Intern and conducted a research project addressing health promotion and intervention for black men.
Christopher participated in Teach for America, where he taught high school in a low-income community in Atlanta, Georgia for three years. He graduated with his medical degree from Meharry Medical College, and was a participant in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also completed the A.D. Brickler Obstetrics Fellowship at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.
He has an array of interests in primary care including maternal health, men’s health, and transgender health. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as traveling.
