The PDMP Foundation Board of Directors selected Robert Macdonald as its new executive director. Mr. Macdonald came to the foundation from the Florida Dental Association where he spent over 20 years as a senior director for both the association and its charitable foundation. He assumed his new role in December 2013.
Dave Bowen, PDMP Foundation chair selected Mr. Macdonald because of his background and experience in association management and fundraising.
“Bob brings a vast array of knowledge about operating a charitable foundation,” Bowen said. “His years spent in Tallahassee with the dental association managing several major projects and his contacts will benefit the PDMP Foundation and help it succeed in its mission to fund the operation of Florida’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program database.”
At the FDA the new executive director managed several major projects including marketing of a statewide, self-funded dollar-based group dental plan; promotion of an elementary and middle school dental health curriculum; and coordination of a distance learning dental assisting education program.
With the Florida Dental Health Foundation Mr. Macdonald conducted the yearly annual giving campaign, major gifts and special events fundraisers including silent and live auctions and casino nights.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of working in a new health care area and providing the executive staff support for the foundation in order for it to meet all of its fundraising goals and objectives as a Direct Support Organization to the Department of Health” Macdonald said.
Mr. Macdonald is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a degree in Secondary Education and Journalism. He received his masters degree in Health Administration and Policy from the University of Cincinnati. The PDMP Foundation will move its headquarters to Seminole where the new executive director resides.
